Tim Burton debuts the first trailer for Frankenweenie

Frankeweenie

In 1984, Tim Burton made a live action short film called FRANKENWEENIE, which was basically a reimagining of the classic Frankenstein story, but this time about a boy that brings his beloved dog back to life.  In 2012, Tim Burton turned that short film into a full length animated movie and you can check out the first trailer below.  All in all, it looks like a return to Burton’s roots, capturing the charm and of course, the quirkiness of the story.  I also like that they chose to do it in black and white, which I think adds something to it.

The voice cast includes Burton veterans like Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Martin Landau and Catherine O’Hara.  Although there’s no indication Johnny Depp appears in the film, I can’t imagine we’ll make it an entire animated Burton film without hearing him chime in at least once.  FRANKEWEENIE opens in theaters on October 5th.
