Tina Fey and Paul Rudd star in the Admission trailer
The last thing I remember about ADMISSION was that Owen Wilson was circling the male lead role, so it’s surprising to see a trailer for the film so soon. To be fair, the cast was hammered down before the summer, sans Owen Wilson, so it makes sense that they’d have the film mostly completed by now. Instead of Wilson, Paul Rudd is starring with Tina Fey in the comedy about a Princeton admissions counselor that befriends a teacher at an alternative high school. It turns out that the teacher contacted her because he believes one of his students might be her son. Of course, romance and comedic hijinks ensue.
The trailer didn’t really know what it was selling. While it’s true the film stars funny gal Tina Fey and funnyman Paul Rudd, the film feels more serious than what the synopsis would have you believe. It will be interesting to see if the film can balance the fine line between drama and comedy. ADMISSION stars Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Michael Sheen, Gloria Reuben, Wallace Shawn and Lily Tomlin. The Paul Weitz (AMERICAN PIE, ABOUT A BOY) directed film hits theaters on March 8th.
