Tom Cruise has a writer for his The Magnificent Seven remake
Tom Cruise is planning on heading up a remake the 1960 Western THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (which was also a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s SEVEN SAMURAI) and has found a screenwriter to do his bidding work with him on the script. Nic Pizzolatto (TRUE DETECTIVE) has been tasked by MGM to bring THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN back to the big screen with Tom Cruise in the lead role (we presume). For those unfamiliar with the story, THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN follows a group of seven gunfighters who got together to defend their homes from bandits and other baddies. MGM is backing the project at this time, but this remake doesn’t have the green light just yet so we’ll have to wait and see if everyone likes the script Mr. Pizzolatto puts forth.
Tom Cruise can be seen next in JACK REACHER which also stars: Robert Duvall, David Oyelowo, Richard Jenkins, Rosamund Pike, Jai Courtney and Werner Herzog. JACK REACHER is set to hit theaters on December 21st, 2012. (Variety)
