Tom Cruise's One Shot is now called Jack Reacher
If you were at Cannes this past week, you may have caught a glimpse of this promo poster for JACK REACHER. Then you may have been confused because you weren’t aware that Tom Cruise was starring in a movie called “Jack Reacher”. But no, there’s no secret Tom Cruise movie in the works (that we know of) and instead, his formerly titled ONE SHOT is now going to be called JACK REACHER. The film is based off the popular series of novels from Lee Child featuring a character named Jack Reacher. And of course, now that Tom Cruise is a Hollywood golden boy again, Paramount can smell the money on the wall and decided to change the name of the film so they can have an easier time naming the eventual sequels. I’m guessing Paramount felt a little burned by not naming the Tom Clancy movies “Jack Ryan” or something like that.
In the book this film is based off of, Jack Reacher is an ex-military guy that gets caught up in a murder conspiracy. When speaking about the film, Tom Cruise recently told Playboy: “There are some ass beatings in this. They’ll see that it delivers what I love about the Reacher series: the visceral action, those ass beatings and the humor of Lee Child’s novels. And the women are fantastic.” And seriously, Tom Cruise’s entire interview with Playboy is great, so if you can get past the fact you’re actually reading a page on the Playboy website, you should give it a read. JACK REACHER is set to star Tom Cruise, Robert Duvall, David Oyelowo, Richard Jenkins, Rosamund Pike, Jai Courtney and Werner Herzog as the villain. Longtime Tom Cruise screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie is set to direct the film from a screenplay that he also wrote. Tom Cruise as JACK REACHER hit theaters on December 21st. (THR)
