Tom Hanks stars in the first trailer for Clint Eastwood’s Sully

I’m not nearly as big a fan of Clint Eastwood the director as a lot of critics, especially lately, but I do believe if given the right script and the right cast, he can do great things.  After watching the first trailer for his latest, SULLY, I’m convinced he has all the ingredients in place for a nice awards push.  Of course, you can’t really go wrong when you have Tom Hanks playing an ordinary hero and in the last 10 years, I don’t know if anyone has matched that description more than Captain Sullenberger.  Hanks will play the real life hero in Eastwood’s film and if the first trailer is any indication, this is going to be one to catch in September.

The official synopsis for SULLY: On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger (Tom Hanks) glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.  SULLY stars Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart, Anna Gunn, Laura Linney, Jerry Ferrara, Max Adler and Sam Huntington.  The Clint Eastwood directed film hits theaters on September 9th.
