Tom Hanks and Tom Tykwer line up A Hologram For The King

Even though I thought CLOUD ATLAS was one of the best movies of 2012, even I have to admit that the public reaction to it wasn’t generally positive.  But that’s not going to stop star Tom Hanks and CLOUD ATLAS co-director Tom Tykwer from reteaming for another famous novel.  The duo will be adapting A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING from Dave Eggers’ novel of the same name.  For those that are worried they’re going to make another existential, difficult to follow movie, rest assured that the film will bring Tom Hanks back to his everyman type character. (Deadline)

The official synopsis for Dave Eggers’ book ‘A Hologram For The King’: In a rising Saudi Arabian city, far from weary, recession-scarred America, a struggling businessman named Alan Clay pursues a last-ditch attempt to stave off foreclosure, pay his daughter’s college tuition, and finally do something great. In A Hologram for the King, Dave Eggers takes us around the world to show how one man fights to hold himself and his splintering family together.
