Tony Curtis: 1925-2010

Legendary actor Tony Curtis passed away late Wednesday evening after suffering from cardiac arrest.  The actor, best known for his great performance in SOME LIKE IT HOT with Marilyn Monroe had a presence in the industry for over 50 years.  He starred in such films as SPARTACUS, THE GREAT RACE, THE BOSTON STRANGLER and THE DEFIANT ONES.  The last of which earned him an Academy Award nomination.  In his time, it was rare that an actor could show such versatility and excel in almost every role.  But Curtis could play comedy just as well as drama, often times switching roles from one film to the next.

For me, SOME LIKE IT HOT was one of the first movies I ever saw and even at a very young age, I knew that he and Jack Lemmon were amazing actors.  Hollywood had lost site of Tony Curtis over the past decade or so, but his work in film will always be remembered.
