The top ten movies to look forward to in 2014
7. THE INTERVIEW – I’ve enjoyed all previous collaborations between Seth Rogen and James Franco, so there’s no reason THE INTERVIEW won’t be as equally entertaining. The idea of a talk show host and his advisor getting involved in a plot to assassinate the leader of North Korea seems ripe for comedy. Let’s hope Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg can take full advantage of it.
6. FURY – I actually don’t have that much faith in David Ayer as a director. But the cast and story of FURY has my attention. I’m guessing Ayer has learned a lot on his previous films and I’m hoping he can apply what he’s learned here and make the most out of this story of a tank crew stuck behind enemy lines in World War II. It will be interesting to see how moviegoers respond to this since we’ve seen a lot of World War II movies lately.
5. NOAH – The idea of Darren Aronofsky tackling a treasured Biblical tale is enough to get your head spinning. Aronofsky hasn’t had a lot of success with big budgets (THE FOUNTAIN), but there’s something intriguing about NOAH. Maybe the most exciting thing is seeing Russell Crowe back in form, which usually means good things for movie fans.
4. 22 JUMP STREET – I can sit and think about scenes from the first film and still laugh, so I’m excited to see Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill back in action as undercover cops. I like the idea of them going to college and from the first trailer, it looks like they’re following the same formula that made the original so great.
