The top ten movies to look forward to in 2014

3. GONE GIRL – You can count me in the camp that was disappointed Ben Affleck was cast as Batman, but don’t misunderstand; I really like Ben Affleck the actor.  And I’m very excited to see what he can do in David Fincher’s GONE GIRL.  It’s a good story about a woman that goes missing and the husband accused of murdering her and Fincher has a great supporting cast to bring it all together. I also think Fincher feels he has something to prove after the lackluster performance of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.

Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy in X-Men Days of Future Past

2. X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST – I don’t know how they’re going to incorporate virtually every single X-Men character in one film, but I’m anxious to see what Bryan Singer can do with his return to the X-Men franchise.  It will also be nice to see Wolverine in another good film.  I’m a little concerned the plot is going to lose some people, but all of that makes me even more intrigued by the film.

Interstellar

1. INTERSTELLAR – Obviously.  The little teaser trailer that debuted a while back didn’t do anything for me, but that didn’t diminish my excitement for Christopher Nolan’s high concept sci-fi film.  He’s assembled another great cast and just the idea of Nolan tackling wormholes and time travel has me giddy.  I realize he’s set the bar so high that it’s unfair to expect him to hit it with every film, but something tells me he’s going to nail it with INTERSTELLAR.

Other notables: MONUMENTS MEN, THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY P1, INTO THE WOODS, EXODUS, THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU, JUPITER ASCENDING, JERSEY BOYS, A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST, TRANSCENDENCE, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL
