True Blood's Alexander Skarsgård may join Brit Marling's next film The East

If you haven’t heard of Alexander Skarsgård yet then you may be living under a rock. He’s been steaming up the small screen in the HBO series True Blood and has two films coming out this year that will probably garner him a bit of attention (STRAW DOGS and MELANCHOLIA). However, next year he’s most likely going to be a household name with a role in the summer blockbuster BATTLESHIP and then a part in the film THE EAST. Brit Marling (ANOTHER EARTH and SOUND OF MY VOICE) is writing another film (she wrote those previous two and starred in them) about a woman who infiltrates a terrorist group called The East that is run by Skarsgård. Since he’s so pretty, she won’t really have a shot at turning away from him. Shooting is set to start this fall with a release most likely next year.
Alexander Skarsgård is a great actor, but that shouldn’t surprise anyone since his father is one of the most solid and consistent actors in the business. Stellan Skarsgård has been brilliant in films like GOOD WILL HUNTING, MAMA MIA! and my personal favorite DEEP BLUE SEA. I’m looking forward to seeing father and son in this year’s MELANCHOLIA and wonder who will end up stealing the screen.
