Twilight: Breaking Dawn with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart officially two films

We’ve known this for several months now, but Summit Entertainment today officially confirmed that the final installment in the Twilight series will in fact be two films. I would have thought they would have made this announcement back when it was reported that stars Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene and Jackson Rathbone were threatening not to return for TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN (which they later agreed to), but Summit wanted to keep anticipation building for as long as they could.
When HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS was first announced to be made into two films, I assumed that would set the trend for two-part films for both the Twilight series and even the Hobbit. I haven’t read the book, but I’ve been told that it actually should be split into two films because of how much it covers. But I can’t shake the feeling that Summit wants to milk this for all it’s worth. As a reminder, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will return to the big screen on June 30th in TWILIGHT: ECLIPSE.
