Tyler Perry to make the comedy We The Peeples

I’ve tried to sit down and watch a Tyler Perry movie to understand what it is about him and his movies that draw audiences in.  For the life of me, I can’t figure it out.  Maybe there’s something I just don’t get or maybe it’s a culture thing, but I don’t understand why his movies make so much money.  But the fact remains that they pull in major bank on virtually no budget and as long as that trend continues, he’s going to keep making movies.  Next up for the versatile actor/director is the comedy WE THE PEEPLES.  He will be producing the comedy through his 34th Street Films along with Lionsgate.

The script was written by Tina Gordon Chism about a man living through a horrible weekend when he surprises his girlfriend during her family’s annual summer celebration.  Chism also wrote ATL and DRUMLINE.  I wish there were more details about the film, but I like the basic idea if it can be done well.
