Universal is rebooting the Wolfman once more

Posted by: Zack Bruce

Universal is making plans to do another reboot of the Wolfman. It was originally thought that a sequel for Joe Johnston‘s 2009 film starring Benicio del Toro was being planned. Michael Tabb’s script is being rewritten and reworked to be more like the classic Universal monster film from 1941, rather than the remake.

The studio is currently looking for possible directors in the next couple of weeks so they can start shooting in the Fall. Casting will obviously follow once they find their helmer.

Johnston’s film did not do well with audiences upon its release. The film really looked like it would be something especially with the cast including del Toro, Emily Blunt and Anthony Hopkins. Unfortunately, the production ran into several problems along the way. One of the biggest ones was losing Mark Romanek as the director.

Is it necessary to even reboot the project? With the TWILIGHT films, there’s been an overwhelming amount of romanticized vampires and werewolves so perhaps it’s time for something different.
