Viggo Mortensen no longer attached to Zack Snyder's Superman reboot

Zack Snyder is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film SUCKER PUNCH, so he has been doing interviews left and right to promote his film. It’s only natural that people would ask about his other project, the reboot of SUPERMAN (which could be called SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL, but that’s not completely confirmed). Snyder isn’t giving much away, but he did confirm that although Viggo Mortensen was one of their top choices for the villain General Zod, he is no longer attached and completely out of the running. Snyder stated, “Viggo is not going to be in the movie, let’s say that right now. I can clear that up.” That’s a bummer, but let’s move on and speculate as to who would be a good Zod. There are some rumors that Snyder may re-team with his 300 actor Gerard Butler, but I think that’s doubtful- anyone have any other suggestions?
SUPERMAN will star Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel and will feature Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent.
