Watch the new Super 8 trailer 5 days before you can see the movie

People say I’m crazy for saying this, but I’m not really that pumped for SUPER 8. I love that J.J. Abrams is paying homage to the classic Steven Spielberg films of the 80’s, but I have concerns that’s all it’s going to be. It’s cool to have fun things sprinkled throughout your movie and to recreate some of that Spielberg magic, but let’s make sure we have a story and some great characters along the way. With that said, I don’t envy Paramount for the marketing challenge they have with this film. I’m guessing the “mystery” of the film is going to be the big payout and that’s not something they can talk about in the campaign.

But in about 5 days, the cat will be out of the bag and fans everywhere will collectively say “so that’s what Super 8 is”. Or not, I don’t know, I haven’t seen the film yet. The J.J. Abrams directed film stars Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler, Joel Courtney and Amanda Michalka and opens this weekend.
