Wes Craven bringing My Soul to Take to Blu-ray

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that the horror film from Wes Craven MY SOUL TO TAKE, starring Max Theiriot, John Magaro and Denzel Whitaker, will be available on Blu-ray February 8, 2011. The film follows a serial killer who goes back to his hometown after sixteen years and begins to stalk seven kids whose birthday share the day he supposedly died. The movie opened in October and ended up grossing just under $15 million dollars which I guess isn’t too bad for a small horror film.
I think some Craven fans were disappointed with the effort from him but considering all the lackluster horror films that are coming out these days, maybe they should just give him a break. I mean seriously, in a time where horror films are shot in 3D and have to relying on filming over-the-top torture sequences to scare audiences (see SAW 3D) at least Wes Craven is still trying to put some suspense back in genre. No special features have been released yet.
