Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn team up for Daddy’s Home
I’m not so sure Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn can pack theaters like they used to, but Ferrell has ANCHORMAN 2 on the way later this year, which should prove to be a huge hit. Vaughn has THE INTERNSHIP, which is barely getting any excitement since it was announced it would have a PG-13 rating. It’s ridiculous that the duo from WEDDING CRASHERS would make a PG-13 comedy, but I can’t help but think Google had something to do with that. But I digress. The point is that Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn are going to be combining their comedic talents in the film DADDY’S HOME. The movie will mark the directorial debut of Etan Coen, who made his name co-writing scripts for TROPIC THUNDER and IDIOCRACY among others.
DADDY’S HOME is about “a mild-mannered radio executive (Will Ferrell) who strives to become the best stepdad ever to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling, freeloading real father (Vince Vaughn) arrives, forcing stepdad to compete for the affection of the kids.” And that basically sounds like the basis of every comedy featuring two big comedians; one straight-laced guy plus one wild card equals comedy gold.
