Will James Franco take on a cameo as Hugh Hefner in Lovelace?

James Franco has many faces: James Dean, Green Goblin, Allen Ginsberg, and maybe Hugh Hefner.
The actor is eyeing a cameo as the nudey mag pioneer in the upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic, LOVELACE. Taking on this role is a very likely possibility for Franco since it would reunite him with his HOWL directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman.
Hank Azaria, Bobby Cannavale, Chris Noth and Robert Patrick have also joined the cast recently. Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard are already set to star as Lovelace and her husband, Chuck Traynor, respectively. The film delves into the life of Lovelace who became the first porn superstar then later after much emotional abuse turned her life around to rally against the pornography business.
Here are some details on the characters that the recently signed on actors will play: Azaria is on as “Deep Throat” writer-director Jerry Damiano, who prides himself on having made a porn movie with a story, characters and humor. Cannavale and Noth will play “Deep Throat” financiers Butchie Peraino and Anthony Romano, who go into business with Linda’s pornographer husband Traynor (Sarsgaard) after he shows them a home movie of her special skill. Patrick will play Linda’s father John Boreman, who initially falls for Chuck’s charm when Linda brings him home but later finds himself ashamed of his daughter’s newfound celebrity. Franco will film for a day as his only job as Hefner will be to welcome Linda and Traynor into the Playboy Mansion for a screening of DEEP THROAT.
