Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment presents a provocative story about the making of one of cinema’s most iconic films. Plagued by both a reckless ego and nagging self-doubt, Hollywood legend Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) becomes obsessed with a grisly murder story that the studios won’t back. Determined, he risks his reputation, his home and the love of his wife Alma (Helen Mirren), as he sets out to make his film. Ultimately, Hitchcock wins Alma over on his project and the two collaborate to create the famous masterpiece PSYCHO. HITCHCOCK also features the talents of Scarlett Johansson, Toni Collette and Jessica Biel.
HITCHCOCK was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling for Howard Berger, Peter Montagna and Martin Samuel. Though this isn’t a category most people get very excited over, this particular nomination is impressive since these gentlemen had to make the actors and actresses not only look great, but had to make them look like the original stars and crew of PSYCHO. Unfortunately, HITCHCOCK didn’t do fantastic at the box office, only bringing in over $6 million, but I think this is one of those that is worth checking out on Blu-ray.
