Zac Efron and Seth Rogen to team for an R-rated comedy

At first, it may seem surprising to see a pairing of Seth Rogen and Zac Efron in an R-rated comedy, but really it makes sense. Efron has been trying to shed his High School Musical image for quite some time and Rogen is at the stage where he can be the main comedian in a film. In the still untitled film, Seth Rogen will play the normal family man that lives next door to a frat house that Zac Efron’s character is a part of. But Rogen’s character is pushed to the limit when the partying and wild ways starts to impact his family life. We don’t yet have a director or a start date.
This sounds like a cross between OLD SCHOOL and DECK THE HALLS, but it could work. Apatow veterans Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien pitched the script to Universal who were apparently so impressed that they dropped 7 figures on the idea and another $8 million on Rogen to get him to sign on. R-rated comedies are a big hit this year (THE HANGOVER PART II, BRIDESMAIDS, BAD TEACHER, HORRIBLE BOSSES), but will they still have their luster when this hits theaters?
