Zac Efron and Seth Rogen star in the first Neighbors trailer, plus new pics

It seems virtually every actor or actress that has appeared in a comedy has some ties to Judd Apatow.  Zac Efron, of course, starred in 17 AGAIN with Apatow’s wife, Leslie Mann and now he’s starring opposite Seth Rogen in the new comedy, NEIGHBORS (formerly TOWNIES). The first red band trailer has hit the web, which you can watch below, and I have to say it’s not bad.  I’m actually a little surprised by how funny it is.  Zac Efron seems to have embraced the bad boy character and is in full douche-bag mode, complete with a tattoo and oversized sunglasses.  This is yet another type of character for Zac Efron, who I’ve become more and more impressed with after good turns in movies like THE PAPERBOY, AT ANY PRICE and the upcoming PARKLAND.  Seth Rogen seems to be on point once again, making things funny that otherwise wouldn’t be.

NEIGHBORS is directed by Apatow vet Nick Stoller, who also directed FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, THE FIVE YEAR ENGAGEMENT and GET HIM TO THE GREEK.  He also wrote THE MUPPETS, so he has quite a solid resume when it comes to good comedies.  NEIGHBORS stars Zac Efron, Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jake Johnson, Dave Franco, Lisa Kudrow, Jason Mantzoukas and Bobby Moynihan.  The film was written by Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien and will hit theaters on May 9th, 2014.  Check out the red band trailer below.  (People, Zac Efron)
