Zoe Saldana joins Christian Bale in Out Of The Furnace

Just when I’m starting to like Zoe Saldana for her part in films like STAR TREK, she goes and does something like COLOMBIANA and then I go back to questioning whether or not she’s leading lady material. But with a starring turn opposite Bradley Cooper in THE WORDS and of course, STAR TREK 2, she seems to be on the right track. She’s continuing that streak after landing the leading female role opposite Christian Bale in OUT OF THE FURNACE for director Scott Cooper (CRAZY HEART).
The film is about a man recently released from prison that just wants to marry his girlfriend, but gets drawn into a quest for revenge when his brother is murdered. Saldana will be playing the man’s ex-wife, who is married to the town sheriff. Early word had it that Viggo Mortensen was being eyed for the villain for the villain role and Robert Duvall was being sought for a part as well, but neither have been confirmed yet.
