Ready or Not 2: Here I Come Movie Review

2023’s READY OR NOT was a surprising, but well-deserved hit. So creating a sequel to the crazy family game trying to kill the bride horror was a no-brainer. READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME picks up immediately following the action of the first film and nearly matches the comedy and intensity for another entertaining, bloody installment.
READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME official synopsis:
Moments after surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace (Samara Weaving) discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.
Thankfully Samara Weaving returns to this wild horror romp even throwing on the blood stained wedding dress arbitrarily to fight some ridiculously insane socialite murderers. READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME adds some extra charm and humor through her sister played by Kathryn Newton, an over-the-top brother sister team played by Sarah Michelle Gellar and Shawn Hatosy, and an official referee of sorts played by Elijah Wood, to make sure all the rules are being followed to properly murder someone in this evil, heartless game.
All the different families fighting to rule the throne have their own quirks and privileged spoiled nature that makes it easy to laugh at and root against. Thankfully the film is wise enough to keep the action under 2 hours and playful enough to keep the audience interested and laughing. READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME is building off the originality of the… original. So it’s playing at a disadvantage as far as being the new fun thing. But it also gets to play looser and build off what the other one did so well. Therefore, if you love the first film, you’re gonna have a blast with READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME. Because quite frankly the absurdity, bloody rocks.
