Lucasfilm has been busy on a film called RED TAILS which is being directed by Anthony Hemingway (who has directed episodes for shows like HBO’s Treme and True Blood). RED TAILS is based on the true story of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II, they are the first African-American pilots to fly into combat. The film has a solid cast that includes: Bryan Cranston, Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr., and it hits theaters on January 20, 2012.
This movie looks really good. It may just be the trailer, but I have a feeling the full length film will be pretty amazing too. I for one am very happy to see Cuba Gooding Jr. in a legitimate role that can showcase his talent. I’m not sure why he has been relegated to doing films like THE HIT LIST or SNOW DOGS, but hopefully this film will help him get back in the good graces of Hollywood.
Check out the trailer for RED TAILS below.
