In the film 5 STAR DAY, Jake (Cam Gigandet) sets out to disprove astrology by meeting up with three other people that were born on the same day, in the same hospital as him. He ends up having the worst birthday imaginable after his horoscope predicted he would have a perfect day, thus serving as the catalyst for his quest. The idea of someone setting out to disprove astrology, even in this manner, is intriguing and it will be interesting to see if Cam Gigandet (EASY A, THE EXPERIMENT, PRIEST) can pull off a starring role that doesn’t require him to be the jerk. The film also stars Jena Malone, Will Yun Lee, Chris Johnson and Tad Hilgenbrink.
The film had a very limited release last fall and will hit Blu-ray on February 7th. Special features on the disc include a commentary with director Danny Buday, and cinematographer Jason Oldak, “Dependency,” a short film by Danny Buday, deleted scenes, a behind-the-scenes featurette, outtakes and bloopers.
