Since young actress Hailee Steinfeld gave a fantastic performance in 2010’s TRUE GRIT, we have yet to see her in any other film though she has signed on to several. Next year we’ll see Hailee Steinfeld in CAN A SONG SAVE YOUR LIFE?, ENDER’S GAME and possibly ROMEO AND JULIET, so since she’s still lining up roles we can add another film to her list entitled DEAD OF WINTER.
DEAD OF WINTER will have Hailee Steinfeld play a teenager who goes off to a cabin with her father as he tries to get his daughter and her new stepmother to form a bond. Unfortunately, their nice family weekend is disrupted as a fugitive arrives and their happy family time turns into a fight for survival. DEAD OF WINTER sounds like a film we’ve all seen hundreds of times, but the script from Sarah Conradt made it onto the coveted Black List so it must be better than we think. It looks like Lionsgate will be the studio backing this project and shooting is supposed to start sometime next year. (Variety)
