YOGI BEAR could seriously compete for worst film of 2010, the script was lame, the acting was bad and quite frankly the audience is minimal since most kids these days haven’t even heard of the picnic basket stealing bear. So it’s only natural that a sequel would be made, right? I know, it confuses me as well. However that is what Warner Bros. is planning as they have hired Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Vetimilia (writers of the first film) on to draft a sequel. No word on whether or not any of the actors involved with the first will return for the sequel, but I suppose there’s a good chance Anna Faris and Tom Cavanagh might as they are the only real life actors that matter. I’m pretty sure no one would notice if Dan Aykroyd (who voiced Yogi) and Justin Timberlake (who voiced Boo Boo) didn’t bother to come back as their voices were pretty unrecognizable anyway.
Surprisingly (to me), YOGI BEAR pulled in over $100 million at the box office. Obviously I’m not the target audience for this film, but I’m surprised that kids enjoyed it that much. Was it the lack of kiddie films last year? I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
