I was sitting here trying to come up with something to say about SALT and I was going to speculate how the newly greenlit sequel would pick up with Evelyn Salt after the end of the first one and I can’t actually remember what happened to her. That’s how forgettable the film was. But, it was also successful and therefore, a sequel is a must. So Sony Pictures has asked Kurt Wimmer to write up a sequel to last year’s film. Wimmer has written several decent, but not great films including the original SALT, EQUILIBRIUM, THE RECRUIT and LAW ABIDING CITIZEN. No word on whether or not director Phillip Noyce would return to direct.
You may remember that Sony failed to convince Jolie to come back for a sequel to WANTED, but Jolie supposedly wants to do a sequel to SALT and is ready to sign on the dotted line when a decent script is presented. Of course, I use the term “decent” very loosely.
