Jason Biggs (AMERICAN PIE) and Joel David Moore (AVATAR) will be teaming up to star in the indie political comedy GRASSROOTS. Yes I did use 1999’s AMERICAN PIE as a film reference for Biggs. That guy is badly in need of a hit. He does tend to star in more independent films like GRASSROOTS so I can’t fault him for that. Stephen Gyllenhaal (LOSING ISAIAH, HOME GROWN) will be co-writing and directing while Peggy Rajksi (THE GRIFTERS, EIGHT MEN OUT) will be producing through MRB.
The story is about a recently fired journalist (Biggs) who reluctantly helps his eccentric friend (Moore) run for Seattle City Council. I think people get enough drama and comedy from true-life politics, which makes me believe this will be tough to get audiences to see.
