Quentin Tarantino feels bad for not having Somewhere on his top 10 of 2010 list

I think it’s safe to say that many critics were surprised to see the films listed on Quentin Tarantino‘s favorite films of 2010, because quite frankly some of his choices were kind of off the beaten path (that sounds nice, right?). But snaps to Mr. Tarantino for being honest, no one faults him for that.  What people are faulting him for is omitting Sofia’s Coppola’s film SOMEWHERE from the list. There was a lot of controversy surrounding Ms. Coppola’s win at the Venice International Film Festival, many people only thought she won because she used to date the PULP FICTION director who was serving on the jury. Here’s what he had to say about his omission of SOMEWHERE:

The world knows how I feel about those films already … I put them in a separate box — I was on official duty at that time, not seeing the films theatrically, independently… Now I wish I’d put it on there — I didn’t think anyone would pay attention. If I’d known it was going to get out, I’d have put it in my top ten.

I think it’s pretty humble that Tarantino would think that he’s such a lowly director that no one would bother reading his top ten list.  It’s ridiculous, because we all know he knew we were gonna read it but at least he’s humble in his statement.  Either way, SOMEWHERE was a mediocre film at best, so it shouldn’t be on anyone’s top ten list of last year.
