Arnold Schwarzenegger looks to star in The Toxic Avenger remake

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Wow. All I can say is, wow.  In some very odd news, aging action star Arnold Schwarzenegger is looking to star in the campy 1984 B-movie remake of THE TOXIC AVENGER. Hollywood is really scraping the bottom of the barrel for their remakes nowadays. I enjoyed the cult hit as much as the next person but on the ‘it’s so bad and silly it’s good’ level it’s suppose to be enjoyed. But THE TOXIC AVENGERS following has grown into three sequels, an animated series, even a musical, and now apparently a remaking starring the former governor and The Terminator himself, Arnie.

If you are unaware of the unusual superhero movie, THE TOXIC AVENGER is an action comedy about nerdy janitor named Melvin who is thrown out a window into some toxic waste by some evil bullies.  Unexplainably, Melvin turns into a muscular monster with a mop saving the people of Tromaville from all the terrible people in the world.  The remake is to be directed by Steve Pink (HOT TUB TIME MACHINE) and will be produce by Elysium Films, Akiva Goldsman, Richard Sapersein, Charlie Corwin and Michael Bearoya.  Arnold Schwarzenegger will not play the title role but rather a mentor role like Obi Wan Kenobi or Mr. Miyagi type.

Arnold Schwarzenegger most recently starred in the abysmal THE LAST STAND and can next be seen reteaming with his THE EXPENDABLES co-star Sylvester Stallone in ESCAPE PLAN September 13, 2013. (Variety)
