Nobody 2 Movie Review

NOBODY, like the unassuming lead character, sad sack Hutch Mansell, played perfectly by the usually comedic writer and actor Bob Odenkirk, was a surprise hit in 2021. In NOBODY 2, Hutch is just trying to have a nice vacation with his family when trouble comes brewing.  As a key line suggests in the film, Hutch can’t get away from danger, because no matter where he goes, he’s still there.

NOBODY 2 or what I like to call “Dad Wick” is a vengeance sort of genre film that is clearly piggy backing of the fight style and violence of JOHN WICK, but with a lighter, family man sort of tone. And it’s totally awesome!  NOBODY 2 crushes  its entire vibe of mixing entertaining comedy and super cool action sequences with incredible fight choreography.

Hutch (Odenkirk), his wife Becca (Connie Nielsen), kids Brady (Gage Munroe) and Sammy (Paisley Cadorath), and grandpa (Christopher Lloyd) head out to a cheap run down water park and rundown hotel. While there the family meets a town run by criminals with a corrupt cop (Colin Hanks) and a maniacally insane big baddie played by an unrecognizable Sharon Stone who is clearly having a blast in the role.

The family man in me can relate to Odenkirk’s incredibly unassuming dad Wick, who is an aspiration for any father, as all would destroy the world to defend their family. Hutch has a Terminator vibe who cannot be stopped. No matter how bloodied and beaten he is, Hutch is coming back cracking skulls, utilizing everything around him as a weapon, and being completely creative as he takes down anyone threatening his family.

Joy is the key to NOBODY 2. Everybody involved is having a good time.  The directing, writing, acting, and stunt coordinators are all out to create entertainment through outrageous scenarios.  NOBODY 2 is completely successful in making a silly, action-packed, bloody, fun time at the theater.
