The top ten most anticipated summer movies of 2015
3. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION (July 31) – Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt in the fifth Mission: Impossible installment. No matter what you think of the guy in his personal life, Mr. Cruise consistently delivers great action films. A talented actor that demands greatness and choosing unique directors has proven to give the Mission: Impossible franchise a successful longevity. I have no doubt that we are in for another creatively entertaining thrill ride.
2. AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON (May 1) – Kicking off the summer movies is what will definitely be the biggest. You would think that the surefire record breaking summer sequel to the one of the best superhero films in history would be my most anticipated. Well, it came very close. My number two film is sure to be a home run in the fun department, combining some of Marvel’s best superheroes for another world saving adventure. With Joss Whedon returning to the director’s chair and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) all back in action, what’s not to love?
1. INSIDE OUT (June 19) – Yes my number one film is a family friendly kids movie. But remember, this is a Pixar film. And even bad Pixar films are better than 95% of everything else that comes out. INSIDE OUT is about the different emotions, Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), and Anger (Lewis Black), fighting for control within a 12 year old girl as she moves to a new home. Another original and creative idea from the team who brought us MONSTER’S INC, TOY STORY, WALL-E and UP, who I would not bet against.
For some reason, I just can’t get excited about – ANT-MAN, TERMINATOR: GENESIS, FANTASTIC FOUR
Independent films with some major buzz – DOPE, ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL, THE TRIBE
Comedies that might surprise – TRAINWRECK, MINIONS, PIXELS
