Brian Cox joins James Franco and Freida Pinto in Rise of the Apes

As the casting announcements have started to fly out for RISE OF THE APES, I guess I misunderstood because I thought Andy Serkis, who will be playing the leader of the apes, was technically the villain. But that’s not the case as Brian Cox will be playing the main villain and his character is described as a cruel and abusive owner of a primate sanctuary. I thought the ape that led the uprising and destroyed humanity would be considered the villain, but apparently not.
Brian Cox is a talented actor, so his involvement with the film goes along pretty well with the cast they’ve assembled so far. That gives me hope that they’re going to do this film right and not just try to capitalize off of the name. Cox joins a cast that already includes Serkis, James Franco, John Lithgow and Freida Pinto. And to be honest, the only part of that cast I’m not sure about is Franco as the lead scientist. Like I’ve said; he just doesn’t seem like a scientist to me.
