Emma Stone, Kate Winslet and Justin Long in new images from Movie 43

We’ve heard a lot of rumblings about MOVIE 43, but until today, we hadn’t really seen much from the film. As of now, all we have are a lot of promises that the hodge-podge comedy will gross us out and push the comedic limits of some of our favorite stars. We’ll see. I don’t want to be pessimistic, but movies featuring multiple directors all going off and doing their own thing usually don’t work out very well. But I’m hoping MOVIE 43 will provide a few laughs, even if the January release date signals the studio is less optimistic.
MOVIE 43 is produced by The Farrelly Brothers and will feature shorts directed by Brett Ratner, Elizabeth Banks, Mike Judge, Bob Odenkirk, Steve Baker and Damon Escot. It will star Emma Stone, Richard Gere, Anna Faris, Gerard Butler, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Kristen Bell, Chloe Moretz, Josh Duhamel, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Knoxville, Kieran Culkin, Leslie Bibb, Jimmy Bennett, Elizabeth Banks, Naomi Watts, Kate Winslet, Justin Long, Liev Schreiber, Uma Thurman, Seann William Scott, Kate Bosworth, Patrick Warburton, Tony Shalhoub, Chris Pratt, Jason Sudeikis, Bobby Cannavale, Aasif Mandvi and Jack McBrayer. The Farrelly Brothers produced comedy will hit theaters on January 25th, 2013.
We have a few details, none of which are enough to do justice (I hope). Real life couple Faris and Pratt will play a couple where one partner wants the other to poop on them. Butler will play a leprechaun, Stone and Culkin (formerly starring together in PAPER MAN) will play a couple that reunite at a grocery store and Bibb, Long and Sudeikis play superheroes at a dating party. The highlight might be from the short that features Winslet and Jackman, which apparently is the funniest bit and the premise is being kept secret. It sounds like crazy stuff and a lot to cram into a short, but maybe the short runtime will help the directors in making good use of their time. (EW)
