Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Natalie Portman are named Hollywood's most bankable stars

Forbes recently announced the most bankable Hollywood stars and it brings up a source of frustration I have with these kind of lists. If you get lucky enough as an actor to star in a franchise like STAR WARS, HARRY POTTER or TWILIGHT, then your box office numbers are forever going to be swayed by those big-budget films. For example, Mark Hamill is technically one of the most bankable stars of all time thanks to the STAR WARS films, but you would never hear his name come up in conversations about bankable actors. So take this list with a grain of salt. The use a formula based on the actor’s box office numbers and the amount they got paid for the films. So obviously mid-level A-listers with franchises are going to rank near the top.
The surprise number one on the list of Hollywood’s most bankable stars is Natalie Portman. To Forbes’ credit, they didn’t take into account the Star Wars films for Portman since they were released too long ago. But second on that list is Kristen Stewart and fourth is Robert Pattinson, both helped by the Twilight franchise. Third is Shia LaBeouf (TRANSFORMERS) and fifth is Daniel Radcliffe (HARRY POTTER). Lists like this can be fun, but if I’m a studio executive in Hollywood, I wouldn’t pay much attention to it.
