Olympus Has Fallen starring Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart coming to Blu-ray in August

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that the action thriller OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN (click the link to read the review), from director Antoine Fuqua and starring Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Dylan McDermott, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett, Melissa Leo, Cole Hauser and Rick Yune, will be available on Blu-ray in a combo pack on August 13th, 2013.

Here’s the official synopsis for OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN: When the White House (Secret Service Code: “Olympus”) is captured by a terrorist mastermind and the President is kidnapped, disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning finds himself trapped within the building. As our national security team scrambles to respond, they are forced to rely on Banning’s inside knowledge to help retake the White House, save the President, and avert an even bigger disaster. Olympus Has Fallen BD

If you’ve been following the movie releases this year then you may recall that another film with a similar storyline called WHITE HOUSE DOWN opened in theaters three months later. Shockingly, or maybe not, OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN grossed more overall at the box office even though WHITE HOUSE DOWN had Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx attached. Of course, WHITE HOUSE DOWN could still surpass OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN in the total grossed, but it’s unlikely since OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN made almost $99 million and WHITE HOUSE DOWN has thus far only made $55 million.
