Peter Jackson reveals the titles and release dates of The Hobbit films

Although I’m not terribly excited for THE HOBBIT, it’s safe to say there are many, many people out there that are waiting on the edge of their seat to return to Middle Earth. Peter Jackson knows this, so he and the marketing strategists at New Line/WB have done a fantastic job of sprinkling information here and there to keep the appetites going. The news today is that they’ve settled on official titles and release dates. The first film will be called THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY and will open December 14th, 2012. The second film will be called THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN and will open December 13th, 2013. The titles are true Tolkein references, the first being the title of the first chapter (which is actually “An Unexpected Party”) while the second tile being another chapter title.
The two hobbit films will star Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Stephen Fry, Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Ian Holm, Brett McKenzie, Orlando Bloom and Cate Blanchett.
