If you’ve been wondering what happened to Haley Joel Osment, then you’ll be happy to know that he’s back in movies after finishing school. Osment, as you recall, shot to stardom after blowing people away in THE SIXTH SENSE and then went on to star in several other quality films before disappearing after SECONDHAND LIONS. In my humble opinion, Osment was one of the greatest child actors in the history of film. That’s saying a lot, but he was great. So the obvious question is whether or not he can recapture that greatness as an adult. The odds are against him, but he at least has the experience and connections to give it a try.
He just signed on to star in the upcoming comedy SEX ED in which he’ll be playing a new college graduate that wants to teach high school algebra, but instead gets stuck teaching sex education. That leads to problems with the PTA, finding a local blues bar and involvement with a beautiful Polish girl that doesn’t speak English. It sounds like they may have too much going on, so I hope they can run with the main premise, which sounds like it could be funny.
