A while ago things between Matthew Vaughn and 20th Century Fox had hit a rocky patch. But it appears they have stopped the interviewing process and the two are working to finalize a deal where Vaughn will direct X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, which will follow a younger group of mutants rather than the adults.
Vaughn has produced a few of Guy Ritchie’s earlier films and has directed LAYER CAKE with Daniel Craig and most recently KICK-ASS with Nicholas Cage. Both films are fun with high-energy that hopefully he is able to bring to the next X-MEN film. X-MEN: LAST STAND was a bit forgettable but there are a lot of untapped resources in those comics. I think Vaughn should have the right touch to make an entertaining flick.
