Will Arnett joins Megan Fox in The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot

Will Arnett

For my money, Will Arnett is the funniest comedian working today that can’t find a steady gig.  Post ‘Arrested Development’, he’s had a string of unsuccessful shows, culminating in the troubled but decent ‘Up All Night’.  But with that show all but dead, Will Arnett needs work and that brings us to Micahel Bay’s TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES reboot.  He joins a cast that includes the extremely beautiful but fanboy-hated Megan Fox as April O’Neill and virtual unknowns playing the turtles; Jeremy Howard (Donatello), Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo),  and Noel Fisher (Michelangelo).

Of course, anyone that knows anything about the Ninja Turtles has to immediately assume Will Arnett would be playing Casey Jones (played by Elias Koteas in the original), but that’s the one role specifically pointed out that he won’t be playing.  It’s only labeled as “secret”, which probably means he’ll be voicing a character.  I can’t imagine him playing Shredder, which is really the only other human role for him to play.  Jonathan Liebesman is directing from a script written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, with Michael Bay producing.  The 1990 original film wasn’t great, but I think it was about as great as you can make a movie about turtles that grow up to be ninjas.  As much as I like Will Arnett, I’m not sure his involvement has me any more or less excited about the project.  The film hits theaters on June 6th, 2014.
