Will Smith will make his directorial debut in film about Cain and Abel

Looks like Hollywood is making the shift from fairy tale movies and moving onto a different source, namely the Bible. It’s been reported that action star Will Smith is looking to star in and direct a film based on the story of Cain and Abel which is currently being referred to as THE REDEMPTION OF CAIN. For those unfamiliar with the Old Testament story, Cain and Abel were the sons of Adam and Eve who had a bit of sibling rivalry. Cain ended up slaughtering his brother when God accepted Abel’s offerings instead of his own. It’ll be interesting to see Will Smith’s take on this story.
No word on when THE REDEMPTION OF CAIN will get off the ground, but it will probably be later rather than sooner since Will Smith has several other films in the works including: AFTER EARTH, WINTER’S TALE, HANCOCK 2, BAD BOYS 3 and I, ROBOT 2…I think he has a thing for sequels. We’ll of course keep you posted as more news surfaces. (Deadline)
