Bryan Singer set to take over directing duties for X-Men: Days of Future Past

So it seems official that director Bryan Singer will be back in the director’s chair for the next installment in the X-Men franchise called X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Last week Matthew Vaughn left the film for reasons unknown, but it’s been speculated that it was because his experience on X-MEN: FIRST CLASS was a bit of a nightmare. So Bryan Singer is coming back, which should work pretty well since X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is supposed to involve time travel and link the previous X-Men trilogy (which was directed by Bryan Singer) to last year’s X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.  This upcoming X-Men film follows a storyline from a 1980’s comic where the future world is run by Sentinels because the Brotherhood of Evil successfully assassinated Senator Robert Kelly, and now the X-Men must travel through time to change the events. It’s probably a little more complicated than that, but way too hard to explain in a short story like this.

Directed by Bryan Singer, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will star: Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jason Flemyng and is set to hit theaters on July 18th, 2014. (Deadline)
