Anne Hathaway, Robert De Niro and the 2013 Oscar predictions for Best Supporting Acting

Picking the winners for Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor couldn’t be further apart. In one case, the winner has practically been set in stone months in advance, winning just about every award possibly leading up to the 2013 Academy Awards. The other category has had a variety of different winners throughout the award circuit. For me, the Best Supporting Actor category might be the most difficult to predict and I wouldn’t be surprised if any of these nominees win. Alan Arkin could ride an overwhelming support wave for ARGO, Robert De Niro for SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK has the “remember how good I use to be” card to play, Christoph Waltz is just so darn charming and likable he could garner support from those who want DJANGO UNCHAINED not to go home empty handed, Philip Seymour Hoffman is basically the leading actor in THE MASTER, and Tommy Lee Jones is the lovable grump who managed to be memorable in a movie that had Daniel Day Lewis as LINCOLN.
