Alan Taylor set to direct Chris Hemsworth in Thor 2

Before Patty Jenkins was unceremoniously hired and then let go, Marvel was eying ‘Game of Thrones’ vet Alan Taylor as the director for THOR 2. Today, Marvel went crawling back to Taylor and have officially handed him the keys to their Thor franchise, taking over from THOR director Kenneth Branagh, who either wasn’t asked or didn’t want to come back for the sequel. Taylor doesn’t have any noteworthy feature film directing experience, but he’s been around for a while directing HBO TV shows like ‘Boardwalk Empire’, ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘OZ’.

Perhaps Taylor’s experience with quick shoots was what won him the gig in the first place since THOR 2 is set to start filming soon in order to hit the November 13th, 2013 release date. Assuming everything goes well and the key cast members come back, THOR 2 will star Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard and possibly Tom Hiddleston.
