Anne Hathaway looking to join Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe in Les Miserables

Although nothing is technically official about the upcoming musical LES MISERABLES, the project is at least attracting some big time talent.  The film is set to be directed by Tom Hooper, who gained international fame with the Oscar winning THE KING’S SPEECH and Hugh Jackman has put off THE WOLVERINE a few times in order to star as Jean Valjean.  If everything goes right, Russell Crowe will star as Inspector Javert.  So with the two male leads seemingly settled, that just leaves the female leads to be cast.  Well, it looks like Hugh Jackman is courting Anne Hathaway to star in the film as Fantine.  That’s not really a surprise since Hathaway seems to be mentioned whenever there’s a female part in a musical.

Other names being mentioned for parts are THE KING’S SPEECH veterans Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter for the Thenardiers and a slew of actresses rumored for the roles of Fantine, Eponine and Cosette including Amy Adams, Rebecca Hall, Hayden Panettiere, Emma Watson, Miranda Cosgrove and Lucy Hale.  But again, nothing is official at this point, although filming is expected to start in the spring.
