Daniel Bruhl joins Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. in Captain America: Civil War

The Marvel cinematic universe continues to grow as today Daniel Bruhl has joined the cast of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Bruhl has had a few impressive turns in films like INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS and RUSH and should be a great addition to the film. We don’t quite know what kind of role he will be playing, but Deadline reports he’ll be a villain. That would make sense given his German accent and the assumption that HYDRA will play some sort of role in the third Captain America film. Regarding the announcement, Kevin Feige made this official statement: “With Daniel’s ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes.”

What’s a little more complicated is the fact that the third film was supposedly going to be a showdown between Iron Man and Captain America, so I’m not sure how they’re going to fit in another villain. But in Marvel we trust. CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Chadwick Boseman (with many more to be announced over the next several months). The film will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and hits theaters on May 6th, 2016.
