First image from Prometheus debuts, but without a look at Noomi Rapace or Michael Fassbender

I just can’t get into Ridley Scott’s prequel to ALIEN called PROMETHEUS.  I love the cast and I’m typically a fan of Scott’s films, but the Alien franchise lost me after ALIEN 3 and revisiting it so many years later just doesn’t do anything for me.  And today we get the first look from the film, featuring an unknown astronaut spacewalking in what appears to be some wreckage.  I’m assuming the film is nowhere near ready to debut anything but Fox wanted to get something out to the fans at Comic Con and this was what they came up with.  But they also released this pseudo-synopsis that at least gives a general direction of where the story is going:

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

Like I said, the film has an impressive cast that includes Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Logan Marshall-Green, Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie.  PROMETHEUS hits theaters on June 8th, 2012.
