I can’t say I’m that big of a fan of Halle Berry. I think she has talent, but I also think she tends to overact a lot of her characters, thus removing some believability from them. So I guess the best way to counter an actor that overacts is to give them a role that actually requires them to do just that. In this case, Halle Berry has chosen a perfect character as a woman that has multiple personalities, one of which is a prostitute and the other who happens to be racist. If not for the extreme drama coming through in the trailer, I’d say it was a comedy.
The film looks like it could be emotionally very heavy. It’s also based on a true story, which makes it that much more powerful. Stellan Skarsgard, Phylicia Rashad and Chandra Wilson also star in the film from director Geoffrey Sax. Watch the trailer here.
