Harry Potter helmer Chris Columbus will remake Hello Ghost

Posted by: Kristy Sturdivant

Chris Columbus seems to be straying from his usual young adult/children films to take on HELLO GHOST, a remake of the Korean film of the same name. The film follows a young man after he tries to commit suicide and four ghosts appear to him. He must help each ghost fulfill one wish before they cease haunting him. Columbus made a comment about the original film, saying:

After watching HELLO GHOST I was immediately struck by the film’s ability to mix comedy, drama and complex emotional themes. Its strong universal storyline translates to any culture, and I’m looking forward to bringing a version of this wonderful story to the English-speaking audience.

If this plot line sounds similar, it may be because you remember a film back in 1993 called HEART AND SOULS which starred Robert Downey Jr., Kyra Sedgwick and Elisabeth Shue. The film didn’t deal with suicide but did have four guardian angels following RDJ around for his life. I’m not opposed to a remake so I’m interested to see what Columbus brings to the screen.
